Vera Institute of Justice

Cindy is the editorial strategy director in Vera’s Communications Department, where she leads a team of writers, editors, and graphic designers. In this role, she works across programs and initiatives to shape publication strategy to drive narrative change and advance Vera’s strategic priorities. She was previously Vera’s managing editor. Before joining Vera, Cindy acted as a freelance consultant and editor specializing in public policy and criminal legal system topics, working for clients including Arnold Ventures, the Institute for Justice and Opportunity at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and New York University’s Center on the Administration of Criminal Law. She began her career as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice. She received her bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Minnesota. Cindy is based in Asheville, North Carolina.
