Victor O. Obaseki

In June 2020, Victor O. Obaseki became Vera’s first Director of Race, Equity and Inclusion. In this role, Victor leads Vera’s efforts to develop antiracist and equitable workplace culture, programs and research.

Victor is a Nigerian American and Texan who has focused on identity and justice throughout his professional life – as a journalist, lawyer, educator and equity advocate. Most recently, he served as the first Equity Officer for the City of Dallas, Texas, where he led equity and inclusion efforts for a city government of nearly 13,000. He also formerly served as a lecturer and policy coordinator for the Black Studies policy research institute at The University of Texas at Austin (UT), where he taught, researched, advocated and consulted regarding a variety of racial and social equity issues. In 2017, Victor won the Alumnus of the Year Award from UT Law’s Thurgood Marshall Legal Society.

Victor earned a law degree from The University of Texas School of Law and print journalism degree from the University of North Texas.
